Champions League preview: Five things to know for the third round of matches

LONDON — Nine-time winner Real Madrid faces Juventus in the third-round Champions League match that could be worthy of a final. The Spanish giants and the Serie A champions have 11 European Cups between them, have plenty of stars, and their clash on Wednesday in the Spanish capital is expected to be a classic, though Juventus is already trailing Real by four points in Group B.
“It’s a massive test for us,” said Juventus coach Antonio Conte. “We’re facing a club that really wants this title, because of their history and their hunt for a 10th European Cup.”
Defending champion Bayern Munich is aiming to maintain its perfect record in Group D against last-place Viktoria Plzen, while Manchester United hosts Real Sociedad in Group A on the back on of another disappointing result in the Premier League. Here are five things to know ahead of this week’s matches:

WHO HELPS RONALDO?
In the previous four seasons at Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo had plenty of help up front with Gonzalo Higuain and Karim Benzema. But now that Higuain is gone and both Benzema and new arrival Gareth Bale are struggling to find their form, the question hovering over Madrid is who will share the scoring burden with the Portugal forward against Juventus.
Ronaldo scored his eighth goal in nine rounds in the Spanish league to cap a 2-0 win over Malaga on Saturday, and he leads the Champions League with five this season. Youngster Alvaro Morata accompanied Ronaldo on Saturday in place of Benzema, who injured his leg in practice. Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said he expects Benzema to be fit in time for the Italian champions’ visit.
Benzema has been jeered by the Santiago Bernabeu crowd in recent games due to his scoring drought for the club which stretches back a month. Bale played 15 minutes on Saturday after recovering from his second muscle injury already this season.

GUARDIOLA’S DEFENSIVE HEADACHE
Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola faces the problem of plugging a gaping hole in the centre of his defence against Viktoria Plzen. German international Jerome Boateng is suspended following his red card in the 3-1 win at Manchester City and Dante injured his ankle during Saturday’s 4-1 Bundesliga win at home over Mainz.
Franck Ribery was more optimistic about his chances of featuring after sitting out Saturday’s game with a left ankle injury. “The foot’s a little injured but it’s not so bad,” Ribery said.
Plzen lost 6-1 in its only previous visit to Munich, in 1971, and anything other than a third straight defeat in Group D for the Czech side would be a surprise.
WHAT’S WRONG WITH UNITED?
Is it Alex Ferguson’s retirement? The lack of quality players in midfield? The loss of its fear factor? Whatever the reason, Manchester United seems to be a completely different team to the one that won its 20th Premier League title last season. United is eight points behind Arsenal in the Premier League after being held to a 1-1 home draw by Southampton and this is a wounded team that hosts Real Sociedad.
Against Southampton, United created many chances through Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney but did not manage to put the game away. The Red Devils’ new boss insists Ferguson’s departure is not linked to the current lack of killer instinct among his players.
“The fear comes from the team on the pitch,” said David Moyes. “Obviously Sir Alex Ferguson has a great history and his experience will always work in charge of any team. But the players have always been the people that have to turn out and do it.”
ARSENAL’S CRUCIAL GAMES
The Gunners host last-season’s runnerup Borussia Dortmund this week before travelling to Germany for a double-header likely to be decisive for the final positions in a tough Group F.

“Signing Mesut makes a big statement,” said Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta. “We have added to the squad. That tells you in which direction the club wants to go. It gives you great confidence when players are coming in. Psychologically, it is very different to when you see your best players leaving.”

BARCELONA, Spain — Barcelona’s 0-0 draw at Osasuna on Saturday left the Spanish champion one win short of matching the league record for most victories to start the season.
Atletico Madrid could take over as the league leader with a late victory at Espanyol that would equal the 45-year-old league milestone of nine wins through the first nine rounds held by Real Madrid.
Lionel Messi went on as a substitute in the 68th minute after he recovered from a right leg injury this week, but not even Barcelona’s all-time leading scorer could unlock Osasuna’s defence.
The draw left Barcelona three points ahead of Madrid following its 2-0 win over Malaga thanks to goals by Cristiano Ronaldo and Angel Di Maria.

Ancelotti said striker Karim Benzema would be back in his squad against Juventus on Wednesday after he missed Saturday’s game due to a leg knock he had picked up in training. Youngster Alvaro Morata started in his place and was Madrid’s most active player in an otherwise dull first half that only saw Ronaldo hit the crossbar in the eighth minute.
While Madrid again failed to impress, it improved as the match went on and was stopped from recording a bigger win only by Caballero.
Caballero made an excellent reflex save with his left foot to deny Ronaldo from close range in the 82nd and two minutes later used his right hand to parry substitute Jese Rodriguez’s low shot past his upright.
Di Maria said he wanted to see Caballero join him on Argentina’s national team as it prepares for the 2014 World Cup.
“I believe Caballero deserves to go,” Di Maria said.
But Caballero couldn’t reach Ronaldo’s well-placed spot kick after Bale went flying to the turf following what appeared to be light contact with Malaga defender Weligton.
Bale had done little before the penalty in his first action since injuring his left hamstring last month.
An organized Osasuna renounced the ball from the start but did well to keep Barcelona in check throughout.
With Messi watching, Barcelona was limited to Neymar’s occasional incursions with his diabolic dribbling and a header from defender Marca Bartra that he thumped well high from outside the six-yard box in the 44th.
The first cracks began to show in Osasuna’s defence in the second half when Cesc Fabregas wasted Xavi Hernandez’s throughball by shooting over the bar in the 61st.
Messi went on shortly after but he was unable to get a clear look at goal as Osasuna took off its lone striker and added midfielder Francisco Punal to hang on to the point.
“We knew it would be a complicated game,” said Barcelona defender Carles Puyol, who played his first game in seven months after recovering from knee surgery. “These grounds are always tough. We had our chances but just lacked that finishing touch in the final meters.”

alam Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia, pendidikan berasal dari kata dasar didik (mendidik), yaitu memelihara dan memberi latihan (ajaran, pimpinan) mengenai akhlak dan kecerdasan pikiran. Sedangkan pendidikan mempunyai pengertian yaitu proses pengubahan sikap dan tata laku seseorang atau kelompok orang dalam usaha mendewasakan manusia melalui upaya pengajaran dan latihan, proses perbuatan, cara mendidik.
Ki Hajar Dewantara, sebagai Tokoh Pendidikan Nasional Indonesia, peletak dasar yang kuat pendidkan nasional yang progresif untuk generasi sekarang dan generasi yang akan datang merumuskan pengertian pendidikan sebagai berikut :
Pendidikan umumnya berarti daya upaya untuk memajukan bertumbuhnya budi pekerti (kekuatan batin, karakter), pikiran (intelektual dan tubuh anak); dalam Taman Siswa tidak boleh dipisahkan bagian-bagian itu agar supaya kita memajukan kesempurnaan hidup, kehidupan, kehidupan dan penghidupan anak-anak yang kita didik, selaras dengan dunianya (Ki Hajar Dewantara, 1977:14)
Dari etimologi dan analisis pengertian pendidikan di atas, secara singkat pendidikan dapat dirumuskan sebagai tuntunan pertumbuhan manusia sejak lahir hingga tercapai kedewasaan jasmani dan rohani, dalam interaksi dengan alam dan lingkungan masyarakatnya.
Pendidikan merupakan proses yang terus menerus, tidak berhenti. Di dalam proses pendidikan ini, keluhuran martabat manusia dipegang erat karena manusia (yang terlibat dalam pendidikan ini) adalah subyek dari pendidikan. Karena merupakan subyek di dalam pendidikan, maka dituntut suatu tanggung jawab agar tercapai suatu hasil pendidikan yang baik. Jika memperhatikan bahwa manusia itu sebagai subyek dan pendidikan meletakkan hakikat manusia pada hal yang terpenting, maka perlu diperhatikan juga masalah otonomi pribadi. Maksudnya adalah, manusia sebagai subyek pendidikan harus bebas untuk “ada” sebagai dirinya yaitu manusia yang berpribadi, yang bertanggung jawab.
Hasil dari pendidikan tersebut yang jelas adalah adanya perubahan pada subyek-subyek pendidikan itu sendiri. Katakanlah dengan bahasa yang sederhana demikian, ada perubahan dari tidak bisa menjadi bisa, dari tidak mengerti menjadi mengerti. Tetapi perubahan-perubahan yang terjadi setelah proses pendidikan itu tentu saja tidak sesempit itu. Karena perubahan-perubahan itu menyangkut aspek perkembangan jasmani dan rohani juga.
Melalui pendidikan manusia menyadari hakikat dan martabatnya di dalam relasinya yang tak terpisahkan dengan alam lingkungannya dan sesamanya. Itu berarti, pendidikan sebenarnya mengarahkan manusia menjadi insan yang sadar diri dan sadar lingkungan. Dari kesadarannya itu mampu memperbarui diri dan lingkungannya tanpa kehilangan kepribadian dan tidak tercerabut dari akar tradisinya.
A. Masalah Mendasar Pendidikan di Indonesia
agi orang-orang yang berkompeten terhadap bidang pendidikan akan menyadari bahwa dunia pendidikan kita sampai saat ini masih mengalami “sakit”. Dunia pendidikan yang “sakit” ini disebabkan karena pendidikan yang seharusnya membuat manusia menjadi manusia, tetapi dalam kenyataannya seringkali tidak begitu. Seringkali pendidikan tidak memanusiakan manusia. Kepribadian manusia cenderung direduksi oleh sistem pendidikan yang ada.
Masalah pertama adalah bahwa pendidikan, khususnya di Indonesia, menghasilkan “manusia robot”. Kami katakan demikian karena pendidikan yang diberikan ternyata berat sebelah, dengan kata lain tidak seimbang. Pendidikan ternyata mengorbankan keutuhan, kurang seimbang antara belajar yang berpikir (kognitif) dan perilaku belajar yang merasa (afektif). Jadi unsur integrasi cenderung semakin hilang, yang terjadi adalah disintegrasi. Padahal belajar tidak hanya berfikir. Sebab ketika orang sedang belajar, maka orang yang sedang belajar tersebut melakukan berbagai macam kegiatan, seperti mengamati, membandingkan, meragukan, menyukai, semangat dan sebagainya. Hal yang sering disinyalir ialah pendidikan seringkali dipraktekkan sebagai sederetan instruksi dari guru kepada murid. Apalagi dengan istilah yang sekarang sering digembar-gemborkan sebagai “pendidikan yang menciptakan manusia siap pakai. Dan “siap pakai” di sini berarti menghasilkan tenaga-tenaga yang dibutuhkan dalam pengembangan dan persaingan bidang industri dan teknologi. Memperhatikan secara kritis hal tersebut, akan nampak bahwa dalam hal ini manusia dipandang sama seperti bahan atau komponen pendukung industri. Itu berarti, lembaga pendidikan diharapkan mampu menjadi lembaga produksi sebagai penghasil bahan atau komponen dengan kualitas tertentu yang dituntut pasar. Kenyataan ini nampaknya justru disambut dengan antusias oleh banyak lembaga pendidikan.
Masalah kedua adalah sistem pendidikan yang top-down (dari atas ke bawah) atau kalau menggunakan istilah Paulo Freire (seorang tokoh pendidik dari Amerika Latin) adalah pendidikan gaya bank. Sistem pendidikan ini sangat tidak membebaskan karena para peserta didik (murid) dianggap manusia-manusia yang tidak tahu apa-apa. Guru sebagai pemberi mengarahkan kepada murid-murid untuk menghafal secara mekanis apa isi pelajaran yang diceritakan. Guru sebagai pengisi dan murid sebagai yang diisi. Otak murid dipandang sebagai safe deposit box, dimana pengetahuan dari guru ditransfer kedalam otak murid dan bila sewaktu-waktu diperlukan, pengetahuan tersebut tinggal diambil saja. Murid hanya menampung apa saja yang disampaikan guru.
Jadi hubungannya adalah guru sebagai subyek dan murid sebagai obyek. Model pendidikan ini tidak membebaskan karena sangat menindas para murid. Freire mengatakan bahwa dalam pendidikan gaya bank pengetahuan merupakan sebuah anugerah yang dihibahkan oleh mereka yang menganggap dirinya berpengetahuan kepada mereka yang dianggap tidak mempunyai pengetahuan apa-apa.
Yang ketiga, dari model pendidikan yang demikian maka manusia yang dihasilkan pendidikan ini hanya siap untuk memenuhi kebutuhan zaman dan bukannya bersikap kritis terhadap zamannya. Manusia sebagai objek (yang adalah wujud dari dehumanisasi) merupakan fenomena yang justru bertolak belakang dengan visi humanisasi, menyebabkan manusia tercerabut dari akar-akar budayanya (seperti di dunia Timur/Asia). Bukankah kita telah sama-sama melihat bagaimana kaum muda zaman ini begitu gandrung dengan hal-hal yang berbau Barat? Oleh karena itu strategi pendidikan di Indonesia harus terlebur dalam “strategi kebudayaan Asia”, sebab Asia kini telah berkembang sebagai salah satu kawasan penentu yang strategis dalam bidang ekonomi, sosial, budaya bahkan politik internasional. Bukan bermaksud anti-Barat kalau hal ini penulis kemukakan. Melainkan justru hendak mengajak kita semua untuk melihat kenyataan ini sebagai sebuah tantangan bagi dunia pendidikan kita. Mampukah kita menjadikan lembaga pendidikan sebagai sarana interaksi kultural untuk membentuk manusia yang sadar akan tradisi dan kebudayaan serta keberadaan masyarakatnya sekaligus juga mampu menerima dan menghargai keberadaan tradisi, budaya dan situasi masyarakat lain? Dalam hal ini, makna pendidikan menurut Ki Hajar Dewantara menjadi sangat relevan untuk direnungkan.

Atom
Atom adalah suatu kumpulan materi yang terdiri atas inti yang bermuatan positif, yang biasanya mengandung proton dan neutron, dan beberapa elektron di sekitarnya yang mengimbangi muatan positif inti. Atom juga merupakan satuan terkecil yang dapat diuraikan dari suatu unsur dan masih mempertahankan sifatnya, terbentuk dari inti yang rapat dan bermuatan positif dikelilingi oleh suatu sistem elektron.
Unsur
Unsur adalah sekelompok atom yang memiliki jumlah proton yang sama pada intinya. Jumlah ini disebut sebagai nomor atom unsur. Sebagai contoh, semua atom yang memiliki 6 proton pada intinya adalah atom dari unsur kimia karbon, dan semua atom yang memiliki 92 proton pada intinya adalah atom unsur uranium.
Tampilan unsur-unsur yang paling pas adalah dalam tabel periodik, yang mengelompokkan unsur-unsur berdasarkan kemiripan sifat kimianya. Daftar unsur berdasarkan nama, lambang, dan nomor atom juga tersedia.
Ion
Ion atau spesies bermuatan, atau suatu atom atau molekul yang kehilangan atau mendapatkan satu atau lebih elektron. Kation bermuatan positif (misalnya kation natrium Na+) dan anion bermuatan negatif (misalnya klorida Cl-) dapat membentuk garam netral (misalnya natrium klorida, NaCl).
Senyawa
Senyawa merupakan suatu zat yang dibentuk oleh dua atau lebih unsur dengan perbandingan tetap yang menentukan susunannya. Sebagia contoh, air merupakan senyawa yang mengandung hidrogen dan oksigen dengan perbandingan dua terhadap satu. Senyawa dibentuk dan diuraikan oleh reaksi kimia.
Molekul
Molekul adalah bagian terkecil dan tidak terpecah dari suatu senyawa kimia murni yang masih mempertahankan sifat kimia dan fisik yang unik. Suatu molekul terdiri dari dua atau lebih atom yang terikat satu sama lain.
Zat Kimia
Suatu zat kimia dapat berupa suatu unsur, senyawa, atau campuran senyawa-senyawa, unsur-unsur, atau senyawa dan unsur. Sebagian besar materi yang kita temukan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari merupakan suatu bentuk campuran, misalnya air, aloy, biomassa, dll.
Ikatan Kimia
Ikatan kimia merupakan gaya yang menahan berkumpulnya atom-atom dalam molekul atau kristal. Pada banyak senyawa sederhana, teori ikatan valensi dan konsep bilangan oksidasi dapat digunakan untuk menduga struktur molekular dan susunannya. Serupa dengan ini, teori-teori dari fisika klasik dapat digunakan untuk menduga banyak dari struktur ionik. Pada senyawa yang lebih kompleks/rumit, seperti kompleks logam, teori ikatan valensi tidak dapat digunakan karena membutuhken pemahaman yang lebih dalam dengan basis mekanika kuantum.
Wujud Zat
Fase adalah kumpulan keadaan sebuah sistem fisik makroskopis yang relatif serbasama baik itu komposisi kimianya maupun sifat-sifat fisikanya (misalnya masa jenis, struktur kristal, indeks refraksi, dan lain sebagainya). Contoh keadaan fase yang kita kenal adalah padatan, cair, dan gas. Keadaan fase yang lain yang misalnya plasma, kondensasi Bose-Einstein, dan kondensasi Fermion. Keadaan fase dari material magnetik adalah paramagnetik, feromagnetik dan diamagnetik.
